Employers in Pakistan lose good candidates for a simple reason: their job post looks like every other job post. "Staff required, handsome salary, contact immediately" attracts unqualified applications and repels serious ones. This guide shows how to write and publish a job posting — free on ListPak — that gets relevant applications within days.
1. Write a Job Title a Candidate Would Search For
Candidates search by role and city: "data entry operator Karachi", "Laravel developer remote", "call center agent evening shift Lahore". Your title should contain exactly that — the role, and where relevant the shift or work mode. Avoid internal titles nobody searches for, and avoid clickbait like "urgent hiring!!!" which reads as a scam signal to experienced candidates.
If the role has a common English and Urdu understanding — for example "salesman", "rider" or "accountant" — use the term candidates themselves use, not the fanciest version of it.
- • Role + city or work mode in the title
- • Shift mentioned for call centre, retail and factory roles
- • No all-caps, no excessive punctuation, no "urgent" bait
2. State the Salary — Honestly and as a Range
Postings with a clear salary range consistently receive more and better applications than "salary will be discussed". A range such as PKR 50,000–70,000 per month, plus any commission, allowance or overtime structure, lets candidates self-select and saves you interviews with people whose expectations you cannot meet.
Only publish figures you will actually pay. Advertising a high salary to collect CVs and offering less at the interview destroys your reputation in exactly the worker networks you hire from, and platforms remove repeat offenders.
3. Describe the Actual Work and the Real Requirements
Write five to eight lines on what the person will do daily: the tasks, the tools (Excel, a POS system, a specific machine, a bike for delivery roles), the reporting line and the working hours. Then separate requirements into must-haves — a valid licence for a driver, a degree for an accountant — and nice-to-haves you can train.
Overlong requirement lists shrink your applicant pool without improving quality. If a fresh candidate can learn it in two weeks, it is not a requirement; it is training.
4. Publish the Posting and Share It Where Candidates Are
On ListPak, open Post a Job, choose the category and city, and paste the title, salary range, description and requirements you prepared above. Add a phone number or WhatsApp contact that candidates can actually reach — many candidates, especially for entry-level and shift roles, will message before they apply formally.
Share the published link in relevant Facebook groups and your own WhatsApp status. A single clear posting shared in three relevant places outperforms the same text pasted anonymously into thirty groups, where it looks like spam and gets ignored.
5. Screen Fairly, Respond Quickly, Never Charge Candidates
Shortlist against your must-haves only, call within two or three days while good candidates are still available, and keep interviews focused on the actual work — a short practical test beats an hour of generic questions. Tell unsuccessful candidates they were not selected; silence is why applicants assume every posting is fake.
One rule protects both sides: a genuine employer never charges candidates a fee for an interview, a form, training or "security deposit". Job scams using exactly those tricks are common in Pakistan, which is why serious candidates avoid any posting that hints at them — and why your posting should state clearly that applying is free.
